A few weeks after Winter Village, I returned to Metropolitan Ink & Beauty Bar to spend more time with the full team. My first conversation was with Liv Petro, where I had the opportunity to learn more about her story — and her passion: lashes.

Liv is a young business owner who built this venture alongside her mother, Helena, and her sister, Grace. Confident in her craft, she truly treats the eyes as her canvas, enhancing each client’s natural beauty in a way that feels both effortless and intentional.

Her studio, tucked toward the back of the space, offers clients privacy and comfort — a calm environment where conversations flow easily and transformations feel personal.

Rosa: Hi!

Liv Petro: Hi!

Rosa: How are you?

Liv: I’m good, thank you!

Rosa: Can you tell us your name? And who are you and what do you do?

Liv: I’m Liv, and I am a lash artist here at Metropolitan Ink and Beauty Bar.

Passion for Lashes

Rosa: Cool, so tell us! After beauty school, what made you choose lashes specifically?

Liv: I’ve just always loved lashes. I think that’s the best part of make-up and just all beauty things. So, I really wanted to focus on that and I love it.

Client's Transformation

Rosa: What’s the biggest change you see in a client before and after you do their lashes?

Liv: It just makes everyone’s eyes pop! Like, it makes the color pop! It just looks great on everyone.

Rosa: Do you notice posture, attitude, and confidence shift? Like, a confident shift after you do their lashes?

Liv: Oh, yeah! It makes the biggest difference on everyone.

Creating Comfort

Rosa: How do you create comfort immediately? Since you’re working with somebody’s eyes, right?

Liv: Well, they come in and they lay down on my super comfortable bed.

Rosa: (laughs)

Liv: So, we have a bunch of blankets and we make sure they’re comfortable and a lot of them take a nap!

The Skill Behind the Work: Trends Vs Personalization

Rosa: What’s something clients don’t realize about the skill and precision that is involved in your work?

Liv: They don’t realize that I have to put an extension on every single individual eyelash.

Rosa: Lashes go through trend, how do you balance trendy looks with actual... with what fits on somebody’s face?

Liv: I’m definitely always keeping up with trends on Instagram, but I will always tailor it to like their specific eye shape and all of that.

Rosa: Okay! What’s your signature lash style?

Liv: My signature is always anything wispy.

Working in a Family Business

Rosa: What is something you learned about yourself since working in this family space?

Liv: I’ve learned that I definitely work well with my mom and my sister, and it’s cool that we all have our own spaces, but we can be together.

Rosa: If you had to describe the studio in one word, what would it be?

Liv: I would say…one word I would describe us here is unique
